Job satisfaction is an important factor in your overall health and happiness. Long hours, poor communication, and unrealistic expectations can lead to stress, depression, chronic headaches, and other health problems. If you’re in a sparsely populated state, it may not be possible to find a new job easily. Fortunately, that’s not the case in New Jersey. The state is home to thousands of companies, one of which is sure to be the right fit for you.

Stand-Out New Jersey Companies

Hours, compensation, communication, and culture are important factors that affect your feelings about your workplace. When the employee engagement platform Energage compiled its list of the top companies in New Jersey, it considered these and other factors. The survey, conducted in partnership with NJ.com and Jersey’s Best, asked employees across the state to share their feelings about their employers.

Plymouth Rock Assurance (Woodbridge), Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty (Ridgewood), and MTF Biologics (Edison) earned the top three spots in the large company division (500 employees or more). Composecure LLC in Somerset was number five on the large employer list.

Bridgeway Senior Healthcare (#5) in Bridgewater and Express Stores in East Brunswick (#9) were among those on the mid-size list (150 to 499 employees). Staffing Alternatives in North Brunswick and Primary Financial in Edison were the top performers in the small company division (50 to 149 employees).

Other Central New Jersey employers that appeared on the small company list include All American Ford in Old Bridge (#4), DPR Construction in Edison (#8), Princeton Child Development Institute in East Windsor (#17), Iris Software in Edison (#39), PLM Trailer Leasing in Newark (#41) and Collabera in Basking Ridge (#42).

Four Central New Jersey companies were among the top 15 in the country. They include PSE&G in Newark, Princeton University in Princeton, Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, and Educational Testing Service in Princeton. Other notable companies on the list are New Jersey Transit in Newark, Sanofi in Bridgewater, and Prudential Financial in Newark.

Things to Keep in Mind When Considering Job Offers

Salary is certainly an important consideration when you’re job hunting, but it’s not the only factor that should influence your decision. You’ll also need to determine if the company has room for advancement, offers an attractive benefits package, provides ample paid time off, and schedules regular training sessions.

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have reevaluated their job priorities. Eighty-eight percent of workers who participated in a Citrix survey said they wanted the flexibility to choose working hours and location, while 86% preferred to work for a company that valued outcome over output.
