Middlebrook Trail
Middlebrook Trail is a trail that runs throughout all of Bridgetown and is a common hiking trail for the locals. The trail has been in existence for some time now, but only recently has grown in popularity because of a local Eagle Scout troop’s dedication to updating the trail. Most of the bridges, boardwalks, and stairs have been built by the Eagle Scouts making this a great way to get outdoors.
Washington Valley Park Trail
Washington Valley Park is located just east of Bridgewater, NJ with a large trail system for all to enjoy. The Somerset County Parks Commission boasts its “Pine and Hemlock forests, open freshwater wetland marshes, and impressive rock outcroppings.” This park also features a “Hawk Watch” area where bird enthusiast will go to watch thousands of hawks migrate south in the late summer months.
Sourland Mountain Preserve
Sourland Mountain Preserve is located in Somerset County, but it's worth the hike (pun intended). With over 4,000 acres of preserved land and beautiful sights, this hike is one of the most coveted in central Jersey.
Duke Island Park
Duke Island Park is a treasure in the Bridgewater Township offering trails, wildlife, and activities for the whole family. The park offers great trails for hiking and biking enthusiast. You will find playgrounds for the kids, and picnic areas available for family bar-b-ques. In the summer months, the town hosts a summer concert series which has become a local favorite. The 343 acre site has been developed to provide a variety of active and passive recreation opportunities and events.
