There’s little doubt about the impact your kitchen can have on the appearance and function of your home. When building a new home in New Jersey, paying extra attention to the kitchen makes a lot of sense.

Whether you use your kitchen as a workspace for cooking, a place for family meals or a casual gathering area for family and friends, you’ll want to create a space that’s welcoming, comfortable and fully functional.

Even within a single floor plan, you have lots of choices for how to design and style your kitchen. We’ll use our Somerset floor plan to demonstrate a couple of different ways you can adapt a basic plan to suit your style and needs.

Kitchen-Ideas-for-Your-New-Jersey-New-Home2.jpgThe galley-style kitchen you see here offers lots of open space in this kitchen, you’ll have plenty of room for family and friends to gather around, even when there’s serious cooking going on. And when it comes to food preparation, this beautiful kitchen is all business, with loads of counter space and a large, under-mount farmhouse sink. And the six-burner stovetop provides plenty of room for cooking. The white-clad vent, however, keeps the kitchen from having too much of an industrial look and helps this hardworking kitchen flow into the eating area.

If the backsplash you see pictured here isn’t what you had in mind, you can choose another pattern that better suits your style. The same is true of the cabinets, flooring, fixtures and countertop materials. You’ll find a wide range of high-quality materials from which to choose to make your kitchen look and feel just how you like.

Kitchen-Ideas-for-Your-New-Jersey-New-Home3.jpgIf additional storage and countertop space is important to you, the Somerset also offers a butler’s pantry option like the one you see pictured here. This setup allows you to move the dishwasher out of the main kitchen area, providing more space and keeping noise down. It also allows you to prepare food without having to immediately clean up, as dirty dishes can be moved out of sight. Also worth mentioning: this butler’s pantry affords extra space for glasses and even a wine rack if you’re so inclined. Click here for a larger, more detailed view of these two kitchen options.

It’s been said that the kitchen is the heart of the home. Take the time to consider your personal style and how you want the room to function for yourself, family and gatherings.
