Spring is the perfect time to enjoy everything Frenchtown, NJ, has to offer, from strolls along the Delaware River in the evening to a variety of events and attractions in the area. Whether you’ve lived in Frenchtown your entire life or are a new resident, you’ll want to make time to attend a few of these events.

Now Until April 10th

@ ArtYard, Frenchtown

“Invisible,” the latest exhibit at ArtYard, Frenchtown’s contemporary art center, showcases the work of 12 intriguing artists. According to ArtYard, the exhibit “examines omitted histories, imperceptible forces, and unspoken narratives which render that which is apparent, misleading or incomplete.” The free exhibition is open to the public from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday through April 10th.

Odd Volumes Book Club

Last Wednesday of the Month

@ Frenchtown Book Shop, Frenchtown

Although book clubs seem to be everywhere these days, it’s not easy to find a group devoted solely to non-fiction titles. Fortunately, that’s not a problem in Frenchtown, thanks to Frenchtown Book Shop’s Odd Volumes Book Club. Members discuss non-fiction books that focus on history, science, archaeology, and other topics of interest at their free meetings, held at 6 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month. As a member of the club, you’ll receive a 15% discount on book club selections at the Book Shop.

Performance by Craig Campbell

March 11th

@ Artie’s Bar and Grill, Frenchtown

If you’re a country music fan, you won’t want to miss singer/songwriter Craig Campbell’s performance at Artie’s Bar and Grill on Friday, March 11th. Songs like “Fish,” “Outta My Head,” “Keep Them Kisses Comin,” and “Family Man” earned Craig spots on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Tickets for the 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. show are $20 and can be purchased at the Eventbrite website. (Attendance is limited to guests 21 and older.)

New Jersey Kennel Club Spring Dog Show

March 19th & 20th

@ Horseshoe Bend Park, Frenchtown

Dogs of all ages will compete for top honors in the New Jersey Kennel Club Spring Dog Show, held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 19th and 20th in Horseshoe Bend Park. The Kennel Club will award prizes in several categories, including best novice puppy, fun puppy match, best in the show, best adult, best-altered dog, juniors’ competition, and veteran’s competition. Food and merchandise vendors will also be present.

Spring Fine Arts and Craft Show

April 2nd & 3rd

@ Prallsville Mills, Stockton

The Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Show features offerings from artists and artisans who live along the Delaware River or in other locations throughout New Jersey. If you’ve been looking for a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry or a handmade item to add a little color to your living room, the arts and craft show is the place to be. The show will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on both days. Your $5 admission donation will help support the Delaware River Mill Society and maintain the Prallsville Mill Complex.

Bluebells Hike

April 29th

@ Bernadette Morales Nature Preserve, Flemington

If the bluebells are in bloom, it’s got to be spring! Although the wildflowers are native to our area, they only bloom for a few short weeks in the spring. Fortunately, you won’t miss this spectacular display when you sign up for the Bluebells Hike. Laura Bush, principal park naturalist at Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation, will lead the hike through the bluebell-laden trails of the Bernadette Morales Nature Preserve on April 29th from 9 – 11 a.m. The hike is $3 per person and is offered to adults and children 8 and older. Pre-registration is required.
